PANCHA BOOTH STHALA OF LORD SHIVA

Pancha bootha sthala are the five different places where Lord Shiva appears in the form of Pancha boothas (five primary elements) such as Prithvi(land), Appu(water), theyu(fire), Vayu(air), Akash(sky).

2 Water Thiruvaanaikaval- Jambukeshwarar- Trichy> Tamil Nadu> India India water flows over the lingam throughout the years
3 Fire Thiruvannamalai- Annamalayar- Thiruvannamali> Tamil Nadu> India The mountain itself is considered as the god. Only after lighting fire on the top of this mountain, deepam is lit on other temples and in all the houses throughout tamilnadu.
4 Air Kalahasthi- Kalahasthnathar- Kalahasthi> Andrapradesh> India A deepam inside sanctum sanctorum flickers denoting the presence of god in the form of air in the temple.
5 Sky Chidambaram- Thillai Natarajar- Chidambaram> Tamil Nadu> India Chidambara rahasyam: a golden bilva leaf is hung inside the temple hidden behind the screen indicating the presence of god in the form of ether.
